It has gradually warmed up to quite a hot summer here in Trumau! We have been trying to keep cool (with no AC) and keep our minds off the heat. It has been fun to watch Michael and Dominic become more inventive with their toys and play time, and also become better friends. Sometimes, they are quite silly together...
These days, Michael likes to build airport control towers, space shuttle launch pads, and monasteries with his legos.
After 2 years here, we finally went out to a heuriger, which is a local wine tavern, to celebrate the arrival of a new family from America - one we had met over a year ago and stayed in contact with ever since. Such fun! We definitely want to frequent heurigers more often!
We also took our new Americans into Vienna one day. We're loving having you here, Colvis Family!
4th of July! Yes, we Americans celebrate it with much festivity here, including a BBQ cookout with all the American trimmings, patriotic songs and verse, and of course, watermelon and a flag cake!
Another day, we drove up into the hills to the Hohe Wand Naturpark to escape the heat.

One day, we drove to the Wachau Valley along the Danube River to the little town of Durnstein. Many Austrian wines are produced in this region, and this town is famous for having the ruins of a 12th century castle where King Richard the Lionheart was once imprisoned. We spent some time down at the river, checked out the town and hiked up to the castle ruins after lunch!
